Jessica recently graduated from the Certified Hospitality Personnel program at Lokken College. When she applied, she explained that she wanted a change of pace from her recent labourer positions and aimed to transition into the hospitality sector. As she progressed through the program, she met regularly with her instructor to set an employment goal and stay on track to achieve it.

During her program, Jessica maintained near-perfect attendance and worked diligently to complete her curriculum on time. This gave her extra time to search for appropriate employment opportunities and refine her resume and cover letter to appeal to employers. She also earned an emerit training certificate aligned with her employment goal, adding another credential to strengthen her resume.

When reflecting on her program, Jessica said: “Lokken College has been life-changing as I graduate. I think back on the first day, and I was afraid I wouldn’t have been able to do it because I struggled to finish high school and find a job due to mental health and addictions, but the program instructors are super understanding and so supportive! The online courses are convenient if you have kids or are employed. The career path management classes helped me stay on track and to keep a positive mindset. They offered some great advice, from finances to addictions to managing stress and anxiety. I learnt a lot, not just based on the curriculum but also life lessons.
