Starting a Career as a Plumber
Katelan recently graduated from the 20-week Certified Industrial Personnel Apprenticeship program at Lokken College after securing employment as a Plumber’s Apprentice. During her application with Lokken College, Katelan identified Plumbing as her desired field to start a career. In order to achieve this goal, she created an eye-catching resume and cover letter through Lokken College’s Career Development curriculum, as well as practiced her interviewing skills through Mock Interviews with her Instructor. Katelan also attended daily Career Path Management presentations to discuss the soft-skills employers want, such as: Time Management, Stress Management, Communication, and Conflict Resolution, as well as many more. Finally, she completed Industry Specific training for her desired employment, which included Confined Space training, Fall Protection, Standard First Aid and CPR C, and more.
When reviewing her program, Katelan said: “I went into the apprenticeship program and was able to obtain many safety tickets that are required for working in trades. I was able to start my Plumber apprenticeship with a great company almost 3 months ago… the staff at Lokken college is very supportive and knowledgeable.” Congratulations on your success, Katelan. We look forward to hearing from you during the 90-day and 180-day follow ups.
